It was established in 1927 by Harvey Spencer Lewis. Harvey was a mystic and Rosicrucian author and an inventor. One of his famous inventions was the Color Organ. The color organ is a device where audio signals are converted. They were showed on a triangular screen.

The museum was founded by Harvey Spencer Lewis. Lewis was the founder of AMORC. AMORC refers to Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis. He was known to be a collector of various artifacts that represented mystical symbolism. They were the kind of symbolism that was found from the eastern world. The first artifact that Lewis obtained was a Sekhmet statue. According to ancient Egyptian history, Sekhmet was known for being a goddess of healing. In 1921, he financially contributed to the archaeological excavations of the Egypt Explorations Society of Boston. Egypt Explorations Society gave Harvey several Egyptian artifacts.

By 1928, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Oriental Museum opened. It was opened in San Jose, California. In the following year, AMORC received more artifacts and donations which grew the collection. Several years later in 1966, Harvey’s son had new buildings completed for the museum. By 1996, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum was the largest exhibition that has ancient antiquities from Egypt. It was the only museum where the buildings were created in ancient Egyptian architecture.

The Tomb is one of the exhibits located at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. The tomb was created to show the public that type of tombs that were found during the Middle Kingdom ages. It is a replica from the Beni Hansan burial site and has images from the tomb of Khnumhotep. The tomb has an offering chamber. The chamber is the place where friends and families of the departed gave funds. The funds were needed for the afterlife. Some of the items included were drinks and food. They were offered to a friend, family, or Ka priests. The priests would take the spirit of the items to the afterlife.

Afterlife exhibit showcased many of the mummies that were found throughout history. One of these mummies is the mummified remains of Apis bull head. It was used for bodies being buried in the fetal position.
